What We Are!
This is what we want the world to see. The strength of the Asian American population is growing everywhere. Will you be there to ride along as we continue to grow?
The Filipino Cultural Night held annually at The Catholic University of America. All other schools in FIND, Inc. usually have events like this to spread the Filipino culture
The 6th District's (D6) annual picnic held in Centennial Park around UMBC. Even our own UMBC FASA (Filipino American Student Association) is here along with the other schools in this district!
FCAT (Filipino Culture Association at Towsen) is preparing for their next game. An annual Turkeybowl is held among all of the schools within a district. All other districts of FIND, Inc. usually do the same. MAUVSA has their own version too that is held around the same time.
The directors of FIND Dialogue celebrate the end of the conference. FIND Dialogue is a conference held by FIND, Inc. once a year to help FilAm network across the entire east coast of the United States.
MoCoFAM (The Montgomery College Filipino American club) takes their team picture for Turkeybowl 2012! As we can see here, other schools are also preparing to face off for the prized Turkeybowl Cup Trophy! Montgomery College being a community college in Montgomery County Maryland shows that the no matter the size of the school, the Filipino Community is still growing strong!
MoCoFAM hosts dance workshops throughout the Fall semester. This workshop is also used to find people that are interested in performing at the annual D6 Semi - Formal event which is where all of the Filipino Clubs in District 6 gather to enjoy a night out.
UMBC VSA 2013 - 2014 poses here in front of the same quad that was where involvement fest is held annually.
** Administrator's Notes:
As an aside, I'd like to point at that these pictures still do not accurately describe the experiences that you will get from joining an Asian American club! Unfortunately the members of this AMST 375 group only have experiences in UMBC FASA and UMBC VSA, the Filipino and Vietnamese cultural clubs at UMBC, but that should be a good thing! With all of these pictures from just two organizations, imagine what else is out there in other Asian American cultural clubs! From our research we have learned that other clubs do the exact same thing as these two and maybe more! However you will never know unless you join for yourself, so go find out what Asian America has in store for you!
