What We Aren't!
Here are just a few examples of the stereotypes that the Asian American Community is dealing with. In order for Asian Americans to disprove these negative views, we must educate the American people through the use of networking. Perhaps even then we can inspire the entire world to do the same.
This ad titled “See Asia Like Asians Do” aired in 2012. The ad sparked outrage by the Asian community. The ad is by Mutlipass, an Ukranian travel agency promoting travel to Asia. This is their outdoor poster campaign, which encourages people to view the poster by pulling their eyes back. The concept behind their advertisement to see Asia like Asians do is fine, implying you can see Asia beyond the tourism scene. However, it was simply made with poor execution and bad taste.

This is an anti-racism ad aired in Australia in the 90s. It is an anti-racism ad that pokes fun of racial stereotypes. The white man is mocking the Asian lady by pulling his eyes back while the white women laughs and the Asian lady is eating a bowl of rice with chopsticks. If this ad were to air today, it might spark an outrage among Asians. Personally I have nothing wrong with the ad and find it quite humorous. However, I can see people getting offended by this ad if it were to air today. It shows that in today’s world, ad agencies know that any controversial ad could turn into a PR nightmare and will stay clear of anything like this. There was no controversy when this aired in the 90s.
